đŸĒļ About Adventures in SW Florida

Welcome to Adventures in Southwest Florida Blog, a digital window into the wild beauty, hidden trails, and untamed spirit of Southwest Florida. This site was created for those who feel most at home surrounded by the rustle of palm fronds, the ripple of mangrove waters, and the flash of wings in the coastal light.

I’m Brad Kemp, a Lehigh Acres –based nature and wildlife photographer who spends most weekends out on the trails, camera in hand, chasing the stories that live within our local parks and preserves. From the calm reflections at Lakes Park to the misty boardwalks of Six Mile Cypress Slough, I try to capture not just what I see — but what it feels like to be there.

Our Mission

The goal of Adventures in Southwest Florida is simple:
to help people connect with nature through storytelling, photography, and exploration.

Every post and photo shared here is meant to do more than just showcase wildlife — it’s an invitation to slow down, look closer, and rediscover the natural side of a place many only know for its beaches. Whether it’s a tricolored heron hunting in shallow water, a snail kite soaring over a marsh, or a raccoon exploring the mangroves at dusk, each moment tells a small part of Southwest Florida’s story.

This blog was born out of the idea that adventure doesn’t require a plane ticket — sometimes it’s waiting just down the trail from your neighborhood.

What You’ll Find Here

At Adventures in Southwest Florida, you’ll find:

Each article is written and photographed by me, ensuring the content is original, authentic, and based on firsthand experiences.

Why It Matters

Southwest Florida is home to an incredible diversity of wildlife — but it’s also a region where human and natural worlds constantly meet. Sharing these stories helps raise awareness for conservation, inspires curiosity, and reminds us how much life surrounds us every day.

By visiting and supporting local parks, respecting wildlife, and simply noticing the beauty in small things, we all become part of protecting this environment for future generations.
